The service life of the airframes in our currently operating aircraft is determined by the SAFE-LIFE method. This means that their time of operation is limited according to their total number of flight hours and/or take-offs. During this time, fatigue disruption or damage of the primary airframe structure is not allowed. After this, time are aircrafts without respect to their actual technical status excluded from operation without utilization of their actual structure service life. This has a negative impact on their economy of operation.
Hence, we strive for an extension of the airframe service life of our aircrafts by means of a DAMAGE TOLERANCE philosophy and change to aircraft maintenance systems according to their status.
This research activity is realized by the ADATO project, which is supported by state resources by means of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
